Watch this video [0:49] to learn how one of my students was experiencing today’s go-go-go, faster-faster-faster curriculum. Do you think this would cause behaviors in some kids? Do we deliver our curriculum in a way that kids have time to digest it?
I once had a child say to me, “Every time I learn something, it’s like eating a sandwich but only taking a bite. And I get a chance to chew it, but as soon as I’m going to swallow it, somebody gives me something more to learn. And I just keep chewing and taking bites and bites and bites, and I never get a chance to swallow it.”
Kids don’t fall out of the curriculum. They fall out of the way it’s delivered. I think that’s where I really am looking at, “How do I deliver it to this kid to get him in a better place?”
