Polly Bath: Sometimes a reward system is used in a Tier 1 system. Giving out tickets, tokens, or stars, whatever it might be.
But we have to be really careful that we don’t reward these kids for things they should be doing anyway.
For example, if my class is able to get from point A to point B without causing a racket or a student throws away his lunch tray, I don’t need to give out rewards for these things.
Why?
Because they should be doing that anyway. I don’t have to pay you to do it.
These systems lose their effectivness when we water them down to that degree.
