Behavior: consequence of over-rewarding

Polly Bath: Are we rewarding kids for doing things they should be doing anyway? Are we paying you to get in line and go to music? You SHOULD get in line and go to music. You SHOULD clean up your tray after you eat in the cafeteria.

That’s part of the expectation!

We have often swayed to systems that are all external so that you now only behave for that end result or that external motivator.
