Do you want a behavior plan to work? Stick to it!

Polly Bath: The biggest flaw in a behavior plan or intervention of any kind is that we don’t continue it. We end it too soon. We put a plan in place and three days later, everyone says, “This ain’t working. I need a new one.”
Well, the reason it seems to not be working is because we have to stick with it. It takes time! Behavior always escalates before it gets better when you try to run interference with it. You have to let it peak, THEN bring it down!
If you’re going to abolish the plan or intervention in a short amount of time, you’re never going to see it working. You’re just going to keep re-inventing the wheel.
Both the teachers and the students know that you’re not going to stick with it, and then you become ineffective.
