Excelling as a Case Manager: Strategies for Successfully Dealing with Non-Instructional Responsibilities

Special educators have a passion for teaching students with disabilities. However, the host of non-instructional roles and responsibilities that come with the job can be cumbersome and frustrating. This series will help both new and experienced special educators develop efficient strategies for developing relationships with parents; collaborating with general educators; and managing paperwork, consultation and collaboration.
The series will address the following:
- Overview of laws and procedures and the case manager’s role;
- Paperwork requirements;
- Writing IEPs and monitoring student progress;
- Developing partnerships with general educators for student success;
- Developing partnerships with families for student success; and
- Facilitating meetings.
