Self-Advocacy: Teaching Kids to Drive Their Own Educational Planning
Available as a Workshop and/or Consulting by Carol Kosnitsky
Students with disabilities need to be active participants in planning their educational programs. Evidence continues to show that high numbers of students graduate high school without the awareness of their strengths and needs, the understanding of how accommodations can enhance their lives or the knowledge of the civil rights that protect them in their future endeavors. Participants will learn specific strategies to teach students the skills necessary to participate in their own educational planning and lay the foundation for life long self-awareness and self-advocacy.
Target Audience: special educators and paraprofessionals
